Hull Massachusetts Art Show "Sea and Sky 2020"

Hello all my art buddies!  I am back.  Feeling better.

Now on the mend.

Hope all are well.

I'm Back!

"Semper Fi"
Acrylic 12"x16" Canvas

I am happy to report I am back.  So sorry not to be blogging for just about a year.  I had some serious health issues that I am thrilled to say, after surgery, I am much better and moving forward.  I am on Facebook and have posted a few paintings.  If you wish friend me at "Michael East Boston." I am hoping to do more work soon and return to active blogging. Hope all are well.

It has been such a long time I am not sure if I have already posted this image.  Painting I finished recently to honor my brother's passing. It is of his backyard in Hull, Massachusetts. I recently gave it to his wife at the memorial service to commemorate the first anniversary of his death. He loved being a Marine.  Semper Fi Sgt. James Perchard USMC

"USA Veterans Day" True Grit Art Gallery Middleboro MA

Sad to write my brother, Sergeant James F. Perchard USMC, passed away on October 10, 2016.
Very pleased that local art gallery accepted these two paintings recently as donations in his memory for their November 11,  Veterans Day Show.  All proceeds from the show go to various US Veterans' Charities!
( I started these two paintings a very long time ago and only recently was motivated to finish them.)
Glad to be back blogging!
All the best Michael

"Flying Cloud" Acrylic Canvas 20" x 30"I s

I so enjoy making marine art! Especially wild oceans! "Flying Cloud" was inspired by the famous clipper ship of the same name built by East Bostonian, Donald McKay in 1851! ( Interesting to see previous post showing a photo of this work at one of its many unfinished stages!) Hope all are well.  Take care!  Enjoy and savor every moment!  Your art buddy, Michael

Finished? Not Finished?

I so love to paint ocean scenes.  I am thinking this one is finished? So hard for me to know when to stop.  Especially when I start and only have a vague idea what I am going to paint!
(acrylic canvas 24" x 30")

This one is definitely a work in progress.  I have a not so vague idea where this one is going. Maybe a more representational work?

Hope all are well!

"Front Page Boston Paper!"

So very happy to see a photo of one of my paintings published on the front page of a Boston newspaper! A commissioned work I did of an East Boston neighborhood from "way back in the day!"   ( I also got a kick how they strategically placed a real estate advertisement beneath it!)

"Good Morning Star Shine!"

Woke up not too long ago to this beautiful sunrise view from my art studio!
(Thought of song from rock musical Hair, "Good Morning Star Shine!")
So happy that new art gallery opened in my little town of Middleboro, MA.  True Grit Art Gallery.  Thrilled that some of my work was selected for the grand opening.

Fun to see some patrons at the art gallery opening checking out some of my art!
Peace and Good Health in 2016!!!

"East Boston Harbor Swim!" Acrylic 9" x 12" Canvas

Started this work last summer.  Other commissioned paintings slowed down its progress.  Happy to finish it today!
Brings back many wonderful memories of my teenage years swimming off the old abandoned piers in East Boston!  Many of us use to swim across the harbor  to downtown Boston and back!!  So very dangerous! What were we thinking?! ("Hot fun in the summertime!" Sly And The Family Stone?)

"Happy Thanksgiving!""

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

In the USA we celebrate Thanksgiving with huge feasts to honor the friendship between the Wampanoags and The Pilgrims!
American football,  overeating, and the beginning of our holiday shopping season are also  important parts of our holiday festivities
Most important though is to give thanks for all the many blessings we have!
I am thankful for many things this year!  One of the things I am most thankful for is art and having so many wonderful art blogging buddies!
Thank you everyone!

(I posted these photos before.  Seem to be appropriate every Thanksgiving!)

"Go Eastie! Beat Southie!" Acrylic 18" x 24" Canvas

I was very fortunate to play high school football for East Boston High School!  On Thanksgiving we would always play a huge game agains our biggest rival, South Boston High!  In all my four years of high school we never beat them!
(EBHS players are in the Blue and Gold colors!)

"Hanging Out East Boston Street Corner"

I recently finished this 24" x 36" canvas acrylic painting.   A labor of love for an East Boston client who wanted a nostalgic painting of hanging out with his friends "way back in the day!" Hard to do because of scarce reference material of the buildings and store fronts from the late 1950's and early 1960's! Client was very happy with the results.  Made him misty eyed!  Love the power of art!
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

"I Am Back, Well Almost Back!"

Because of the pain caused by a severe shoulder injury I haven't been able to paint much  the last few months.
Paintings shown here are a little attempt to do some work despite the pain.  Hopefully on the mend soon!

"Boston" Acrylic 30" x 36" Canvas
(When in doubt always paint Boston Skyline again!)

"East Boston Neighborhood" Acrylic 30" x 36" Canvas
(Almost finished for client!  Injured shoulder hampering and slowing the progress!)

"Ocean" Acrylic CAnvas 24" x 30"
(Always feel like painting the sea!)

"Ocean" Acrylic Canvas 24" x 30"
( I could paint wild ocean scenes forever!)

Finally some spring in my little corner of the planet!

I so love all the seasons! Each certainly has its own beauty!

Almost a jungle!

Love this one!  Last winter this six foot high light pole was covered in snow!

Love red geraniums! Very patriotic

Had a little visitor last week!  Love this red fox!

Hope all are well!
Thanks for stopping by!
Please make my day and leave a comment!
Take care!

Officially Spring?

March 21, 2015

First Full Day Of Spring In USA!

Officially Spring in the USA!
Somebody should notify the weather!
Woke this morning to more snow!
Boston broke all time snow record!  109.1 inches!
Not able to paint much lately!  Hurt my shoulder! Maybe too much snow shoveling and snow roof raking!
Hope to soon get to all my art blogging buddies' blogs to write comments.
Miss painting so much!
(Still love the snow!)

"Snow" Acrylic 20" x 30" Canvas

"Snow" Acrylic 20" x 30" Canvas

Heavy amounts of snow on roofs causing very dangerous situations in Massachusetts!  Many roofs have already collapsed due to the weight of the snow!  Photo of our house with workers shoveling snow off our roof!  Still love the snow but also so aware of its dangers and  problems!
